With just a couple days until I greet this year’s participants, I’m happy to announce that we’ve already opened up applications for Composing in the Wilderness 2019.
If you don’t already know about this unusual program offered jointly by the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival, Alaska Geographic, and the National Park Service, then I encourage you to check out our website at https://www.composinginthewilderness.com/. It is a truly one-of-a-kind creative experience and we would love to have you be a part of it.
Applications will be accepted through September 30th, and spots are limited, so don’t miss out. We’ll announce our selected composers by no later than November 1st. I know this selection process is earlier than many summer programs, but by making our selections this early, we ensure that selected composers at all levels (student, faculty, professional, etc.) have the opportunity to secure grant funding to underwrite the costs.
Composing in the Wilderness has a strong history of embracing diversity, and we encourage applications from composers of all ages, nationalities, and styles. Come with us and explore the inspiring wilderness of Alaska's backcountry, compose music about it, and have it premiered by top performers!
